Beginner/Intermediate Mat Teacher Training

This 70 hour classical Pilates mat teacher training program teaches the traditional Pilates method up to an intermediate level as well as teaching techniques, basic anatomy, advancements, modifications and fundamentals. The two weekend design gives the student the opportunity to better retain the information learned by requiring personal practice and practice teaching.* This program is be geared toward teaching groups. Please note, the Mat Training is the first step toward completion of the In Balance Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training program.

Weekend I:
Beginner Mat Training
August 4-5: Sat. 9-6pm, Sunday 8-2pm

Pre-requisites:
10 hours of mat classes

You will learn:
- The classical order, repetitions, breathing, fundamentals and modifications of each beginner mat exercise
- How to design a beginner Pilates class
- Basic anatomy necessary to teaching Pilates mat classes

After completion of weekend I the student is ready to teach beginner mat classes but must complete weekend II and all other course requirements in order to receive a certificate of completion from In Balance Pilates Mat Teacher Training.

Weekend II:
Intermediate Mat Training
August 25-26: Sat. 9-6, Sunday 8-2

Pre-requisites:
- Completion of weekend I
- 10 hours of self directed personal practice
- 10 hours practice teaching*

You will learn:
- The classical order, repetitions, breathing, fundamentals and modifications of each intermediate mat exercise
- How to design an intermediate Pilates class

After the completion of weekends I and II, a passing grade on the written exam, and fulfillment of all required hours the student a certificate of completion from In Balance Pilates Certification.

Weekend Seminars
30 Hours: weekend seminars

Students must be present for 100% of both weekend seminars. No refunds (partial or full) will be made if the student misses any of the weekend seminars. See enrollment agreement for more details on our refund policy.

Personal Practice
10 hours: self directed hours of personal practice

Personal practice means practicing the exercises on your own without outside instruction. This helps the student get Pilates in their body by having to focus on the details of the exercises. The 10 hours are to be completed in between weekends I and II.

In addition, it is highly recommended that you participate in scheduled mat classes to help you grow as a teacher.

Practice Teaching
20 Hours

The practice teaching hours can be fulfilled by teaching a friend, a small group in your home or a scheduled class at a studio or gym.** All 20 hours must be completed to receive your certificate. It is highly recommended that 10 hours are completed between weekends I and II.

*While enrolled in IBPTT all practice teaching hours must be unpaid with the following exceptions:
1. Proof of employment at a studio or gym with the requisite insurance coverage.
2. An insurance certificate which includes coverage for teaching Pilates.
